'Invited'

Directed by Nick Kimball

After accepting an invitation to an exclusive party from the girl next door, a dorky college kid goes through hell to arrive just in time to discover that he's the main event.

"Invited is a dark and suspenseful, 80's horror films inspired, short film paired with a dark comedic tone that shines through a cautionary tale. After accepting an invitation to an exclusive party from the “girl next door,” a dorky college kid goes through hell to arrive only to discover he’s the main event. The film stars Daniel Contois in the role of Ned and Emalie Noel as Hope, both whom fully embody their characters, which helped to bring this “boy meets girl” trope with a dark and comedic twist to life. Invited is a story about pitting stereotypes against each other. It plays to commonly used clichés constructed by our society and is an attempt to dispel the idea that people must conform to social standards in order to live a normal life. In most films, the hero lacking the “best” social standing rarely determines the battle of good versus evil. In Invited, we see that not only does everyone have the ability to be a hero, regardless of their lifestyle, but they can also utilize what makes them unique to overcome obstacles and, in Ned’s case, conquer evil."
